SUMMARY:FEMA Breakout Session: Tax\, Tariffs & Technology: A Manufacturing
 Mashup\, New Orleans Style
DESCRIPTION:Manufacturers are navigating a rapidly changing environment whe
re tax policy\, tariffs\, technology\, and workforce challenges are increa
 singly interconnected. In this fast-paced\, “mashup-style” session\, w
e’ll connect the dots between some of the most important issues facing f
arm equipment manufacturers today—from tax credits and changing tariff p
olicies to artificial intelligence\, automation and the latest benchmarkin
g data from over 450 manufacturing facilities participating in Wipfli’s
manufacturing survey.\n\nRather than treating these topics as separate con
versations\, we’ll explore how they intersect and what they mean for the
future of manufacturing. We’ll look at where manufacturers are investin
g\, how they are responding to cost pressures and tariffs\, how automation
and AI are changing the factory floor\, and where companies may be leavin
g valuable tax incentives on the table.\n\nUsing Wipfli’s survey data an
d real-world manufacturing examples\, this session will provide a practica
l look at where the industry stands today—and where leading manufacturer
s are headed next. Think of it as a manufacturing mashup: different issues
\, different challenges\, and different opportunities\, all coming togethe
r to create one bigger picture.\n\nMike Devereux currently serves as Wipfl
i’s Manufacturing Industry Leader.  In that role\, he oversees a team
of professionals nationally who provide audit\, tax\, and consulting servi
ces to the manufacturing sector.  Mike’s role is primarily focused on
organic growth\, increasing Wipfli’s national presence and identifying v
alue for manufacturing clients and prospective clients.   \n\nHe speaks
nationally to various professional and industry trade organizations and a
ssociations about opportunities to reduce federal and state tax liabilitie
s and has written dozens of articles for industry trade publications.  T
opics for his sessions have ranged from Taxes\, Trade & Tariffs to ways co
mpanies can use technology to get more insights from operations and profit
 ability. \n\n(Local Time: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM)
